The "Hydra-Terra", manufactured in New York State, is a brand new, state-of-the-art amphibian and is U.S. Coast Guard approved. This is the only "T" vessel to have revolutionary positive buoyancy foam filled compartments. This vessel will remain afloat even with the drain plugs removed and full engine room flooding. The Hydra-Terra has proven in actual tests verified by the U.S. Coast Guard to be more stable in the water than its' predecessor, the 10' wide LARC (a military model built for WWII).
The Hydra-Terra is 39' in length, 8' wide, 13' in height and can seat 49 passengers and 2 crewmembers. The vessel is powered by a 300hp 7.2 litre Caterpillar Diesel Engine, Allison heavy-duty transmission, Velvet Drive, electronic rudder control, dual rear wheels and simultaneous 100% combined power on land and water for beaching operations.
On land, the vehicle can travel up to 70 mph and on the water the Hydra - Terra travels at 6 knots with a U.S. Coast Guard Licensed Master Captain operating the vessel. A first mate is also present when passengers are on-board and all crew are trained in safety procedures. There are life preservers and fire suppression systems on board as required by the U.S. Coast Guard.
The vessel is rigorously inspected every year by the USCG.
